An important part of running a small to medium business is the opportunities it presents to really make a difference in our local community. We are not tied to suppliers, or organisations in the way large corporations are, and this gives us the freedom to make decisions based on the good they will do, for us, and those around us.

Over the years this has become a priority for us. We buy our produce locally, understanding the positive impact this has on the local economy, and the environment, lowering our carbon footprint and helping to develop relationships between Sussex suppliers as we go.

In an industry where, often, the big players dominate the scene, we are happy to have carved out an ethos of catering sustainably and fairly. As Tie the Knot grows, we have begun to turn our attention to turning this ethos into something bigger.

Who could we offer our support to, and what difference would it make for them? This year we have chosen to partner up with The Clock Tower Sanctuary in Brighton. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre for homeless 16-to-25-year-olds in Brighton and Hove.  Based in central Brighton, it’s a place where young people who have nowhere to call home can feel safe and ‘just be’. They offer a whole range of services including immediate care like showers and hot food and longer-term support such as helping to build skills and confidence and looking to join the workforce.

We have chosen the brilliant CTS because we felt our expertise in food could be a big help to the charity.

Throughout 2020 we will be pledging our support to the
Clock Tower Sanctuary, to help continue their invaluable work, aiming to raise £5,000 for them in the next year in the following ways:

  • Donating 50p per wedding guest of every
    wedding throughout 2020
  • Through charity fundraising days in collaboration
    with our partners
  • TTK employees will offer hands-on support at
some of Clock Tower Sanctuary events throughout the year
  • We will be making donations of food throughout the summer months, a traditionally low stocks period for CTS.
  • We are providing prizes and food donations for the fundraisers and events throughout the year,  run by CTS themselves.

We will also be asking,if you haven’t yet made Wedding Favour plans, if you would consider either matching our donation of 50p per guest or picking your own donation to The Clock Tower Sanctuary as part of your wedding favours.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary are still looking for participants for the Brighton Marathon 2020 and their Brighton Marathon 50KM bike ride! You can sign up for one of their challenges here
