Not all good ideas get the opportunity to fulfil their potential. The ones that do, are often characterised by a group of passionate people, and slow and steady growth.

Over the last four years Tie The Knot has had the benefit of both benefactors, which is why we’ve taken the opportunity to have a little reflection on the things we have learned and how they have helped us progress as a business.

In 2019 we launched our Bistro Boards, the perfect blend of hearty dishes with BIG flavour served informally to guests on beautiful Olive wood boards – The ultimate middle ground between traditional three-course dining and our more relaxed BBQ Boards. Since their introduction, their popularity has soared, with almost a third of our 2020 wedding clients opting for them for their special day.

Recently we have looked to build and establish our sustainability practises; ditching single-use plastic wherever possible, introducing industrial food waste bins to minimise wastage and ensuring we are recycling to the best of our ability. We are employing staff locally to our venues and solidifying relationships with local Sussex suppliers in a bid to reduce our carbon footprint and boost the local economy.

We have expanded our green efforts further, creating a mouth-watering three-course vegan menu, offering clients the opportunity to select a menu that suits their ethics as well as their food tastes and over 2018 & 2019 catered for a couple of fully Vegan weddings!

The beauty of working as a small to medium business is that, as we grow, we have the flexibility to adapt whilst maintaining our core values. You will always be dealing with a small handful of full time Tie the Knot employees. That team is established and flourishing, working all year round to provide the highest standard of service from initial enquiry to on the day management.

This (now twice award-winning) team have expanded along with the brand, as our wedding numbers grew from 5 to the now 40-50 a year. We are by no means perfect, but we have had the wonderful opportunity to work with some brilliant venue clients who trust and appreciate us, have processes in place to handle the volume at the height of the summer wedding season, and truly love thriving in this wonderfully dynamic industry.

We cannot wait to see what 2020 brings.
